Safety on Pohjolan Matka Buses

The safety of our operations is our top priority. We ensure the safety of our buses in many ways to guarantee a pleasant and safe travel experience.

To ensure the technical condition and roadworthiness of our buses, we carry out regular maintenance and inspections according to a maintenance schedule. Additionally, we conduct an annual safety inspection on the buses, during which we check, among other things, the condition of the seat belts. The use of seat belts is mandatory by Finnish law in all vehicles while in motion. The driver will remind passengers about seat belt use and/or a sign or sticker indicating the use of seat belts is visible to all. However, it is important to remember that the passenger is ultimately responsible for using the seat belt. Furthermore, our buses are equipped with other safety-promoting equipment as required by law, such as emergency hammers.

Our drivers are experienced professionals who receive regular training in both safety matters and first aid skills. This ensures their readiness to act quickly and efficiently in emergency situations. We require zero tolerance for substance use from our drivers; for this purpose, our buses are equipped with alcohol locks, although the law does not directly require it.

In our buses, the locations of emergency exits, first aid kits, and fire extinguishers are clearly marked. Additionally, our buses have fire extinguisher ports for the engine and heater compartments to facilitate the containment of potential fires. If the vehicle’s warning lights appear, the driver receives instructions on how to proceed, and if necessary, faults that jeopardize the safe continuation of the journey are immediately repaired or, alternatively, the group can switch to another bus at a suitable and safe location during the journey.

Thank you for choosing Pohjolan Matka. Let’s travel safely together!
