Expomark Oy trusts Pohjolan Matka for seamless event transportation
Expomark Oy, a subsidiary of Suomen Messut, organizes public transportation to its events held across Finland in cooperation with Pohjolan Matka. The company operates from Jyväskylä and Vaasa and employs 13 people. Service Manager Iiris Kleemola has worked at Expomark for four years, and throughout her time with the company, Expomark has cooperated with Pohjolan Matka in organizing transportation for events in Oulu, although, as she notes, the partnership likely goes back much further.
Flexible Transportation For Diverse Event Needs
Expomark’s transportation requirements vary significantly from one event to another. “Because our events are held all over Finland and most of them take place every other year, there is no fixed model or recurring need for organized transportation. In Oulu, we have arranged free bus transportation for trade fair visitors from Kivisydän, the centre of Oulu to the event venue, as well as transportation for exhibitors from hotels to the event sites. For this spring’s event, we are also planning to arrange transfers from the event venue to the airport,” Kleemola explains.

Kleemola notes that any changes to schedules have always been handled quickly and flexibly. “With my current contact person, we have been brainstorming ideas such as airport transfers and how we could also utilize the trade fair bus as part of the event’s sales promotion. My contact responds to messages extremely quickly and clearly has strong professional expertise — they have also helped me with tasks such as creating schedules,” Kleemola praises.

For Expomark — as for most companies today — sustainability is an important criterion when choosing partners.
“Sustainability is extremely important to us. We started more extensive sustainability work a few years ago and asked our partners how responsibility is reflected in their work, operations, and services. At that time, we hadn’t yet discussed this with Pohjolan Matka, as those conversations were limited to our official partners. However, I do know that Pohjolan Matka holds the same certification as our corporate group (ISO 14001), as well as at least one other sustainability certification,” Kleemola says.
