Tulikuuma Kumpu Oy is a business group that includes more than 50 restaurants across Finland. According to Jyri Kettunen, trips are usually organised once a year. Some journeys are arranged for Tulikuuma Kumpu’s employees, but trips have also been made for the Eastern Finland Tourism and Restaurant Entrepreneurs Association, where Kettunen serves as Chair.
Travelling By Coach And By Plane
Trips have been made both by coach and by airplanes, with destinations including Levi in Finland, St Petersburg, Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius, and, with a smaller group, Berlin. “The most memorable trip for me was our recent journey to Albania – it was truly fascinating,” Kettunen says. “The trip was a five-day experience, and it was a pleasant surprise to see how much interesting things the country has to offer. Berat – the city of a thousand windows, the Alpeta winery, and Mrizi i Zanave – Albania’s most famous farm‑to‑table agritourism restaurant – were truly unforgettable and unique places. In addition, we had an absolutely fantastic Albanian‑Finnish guide who explained everything about Albanian society, from social issues to everyday life today,” Kettunen recalls.
According to Kettunen, cooperation with Pohjolan Matka has worked excellently. “We have our own group sales expert, Seija Turunen, with whom everything runs smoothly and communication feels very natural,” he praises. “At Pohjolan Matka, the focus is not on problems but on finding solutions to them.”
Kettunen has also travelled with his groups by coach, and he has nothing but praise for Pohjolan Matka drivers: “Energetic, safe, customer‑oriented, and flexible – that’s how I would describe them. They know how to adapt to the needs of each group and are truly part of the group.”

According to Kettunen, Pohjolan Matka’s continuously updated sustainability programme, ISO 14001 environmental certification, and the Sustainable Travel Finland label say a lot about the company’s commitment to operating responsibly in today´s world. “I personally place great value on social responsibility, and this is clearly in order at Pohjolan Matka – you can see it in the way their employees work and how they meet customers,” Kettunen states.
