ARCTIC NORTH ROUNDTRIP FROM FINLAND TO NORTH CAPE 9 days
See the highlights of the Arctic North from Rovaniemi to the end of the world at the North Cape on this roundtrip. Explore the authentic beauty of Finnish Lapland, visit the Arctic Circle and Tromsø – the arctic capital.
Day 1
Arrival in Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland. Transfer to the hotel by Pohjolan Matka charter coach. Accommodation at a 3-star hotel. Rovaniemi is located above the north part of the polar circle. It is the official home of Santa and he has his very own post office here too. We will visit the Santa´s village and meet Santa himself. Dinner at the hotel and overnight.
Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel. Design a program which best suits your taste amongst the variety of several winter activities in the nature. It is also a city of restaurants and shopping possibilities.
Ounasvaara Ski Resort is located almost in the centre of the city of Rovaniemi. From the Northern side of Ounasvaara mountain, you’ll find a modern Outdoor resort where you can downhill ski, snowboard, or ski while enjoying the international atmosphere. Ounasvaara’s slopes are suitable for both beginners and professionals. Dinner at the hotel and overnight.
Day 3
After the breakfast at the hotel transfer towards Kilpisjärvi, the only alpine village in Finland and home to the sacred mountain for Sami people ”Fell Saana”. This fabled and inspiring fell region, located near the Arctic Ocean where three countries meet, gives you possibilities to do and see things that you’ve never been able to before. Hop on snowmobiles and cross the lake to reach the three-country border. Norway, Finland and Sweden, you can set your foot in all three of them. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4
After the breakfast transfer to Tromsø, the largest city in the Nordic countries north of the Arctic Circle and it is home to the world´s northernmost university, brewery and cathedral. We have a guided tour to see the most important sights of Tromsø. After the lunch break we continue northwards to Alta. On the way you can enjoy a unic panoramic view of the mountain range of the Lyngen Alps. Dinner and overnight
Day 5
Breakfast at the hotel. Bus transfer along the Porsanger fjords and through the North Cape tunnel to the probably most famous point of Norway. Take part to the snowmobile safari to the North Cape, the Europe´s most northern point. This is a wild and windswept headland where the cliffs rise dramatically 300 metres from the sea, and you gaze out with nothing but water between you and the frozen wastland of the North Pole. Transfer back to Alta. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6
Breakfast at the hotel and some free time to explore the nice city of Alta. At noon we start the way back to Finland heading to Saariselkä. On the way enjoy the scenery. We have a break at Karasjok and arrive in Saariselkä late in the evening. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7
Breakfast. Design a program which best suits your taste. We recommend to take part to an epic husky safari through the frozen wilderness, enjoy a reindeer safari and farm visit, go ice fishing, downhill or cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, or what ever you prefer amongst the variety of activities. Experience the true magical moment and feeling as you gaze upon the Arctic Sky while it is filled with colourful glow of the Northern lights. Take part to a guided aurora hunting tour. Second night in Saariselkä.
Day 8
Breakfast. Another day to enjoy the wonderful activities.
Pohjolan Matka will tailor the activities and excursions to suit your group.
Overnight.
Day 9
After the breakfast transfer to Ivalo airport (28 km) or to Rovaniemi (260 km). You can have an optional day in Rovaniemi before the return flight.
